Ontario PCs Introduce Plan to Protect Ontario in Uncertain Times

The Ontario PC government has released the 2025 Ontario Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario — a bold, responsible plan to protect Ontario businesses, support workers, create good-paying jobs, and build a stronger, more resilient economy in the face of global uncertainty and new U.S. tariffs.

This budget delivers targeted, strategic investments that will help Ontario families today — while building for tomorrow.

Here’s how we’re getting it done:

  • Putting More Money Back in Your Pocket: The government is making gas and fuel tax cuts permanent — saving households around $115 a year — and removing tolls from Highway 407 East, which could save commuters up to $7,200 annually.
  • Protecting Jobs and Growing the Economy: Ontario is launching a new $5 billion Protecting Ontario Account to shield businesses from U.S. tariffs and protect the jobs they provide. An additional $1.3 billion is being invested to expand the Ontario Made Manufacturing Investment Tax Credit, helping over 830,000 workers and lowering costs for businesses across the province.
  • Supporting Ontario Workers: With a $2.5 billion commitment to skilled trades training — including a $1 billion boost to the Skills Development Fund — Ontario is ensuring more workers can train for in-demand careers and secure better futures.
  • Building for the Future: The province is moving forward with the most ambitious capital plan in its history — over $200 billion over the next 10 years — to build the roads, transit, hospitals, schools and infrastructure our growing province needs.
  • Unlocking Opportunity Across Ontario: This includes $500 million for a new Critical Minerals Processing Fund, ensuring that the minerals mined in Ontario are also processed here by Ontario workers. In addition, the government is tripling loan guarantees — up to $3 billion — to support Indigenous equity partnerships and long-term economic growth in Indigenous communities.

The 2025 Budget reflects our PC government’s unwavering commitment to protect Ontario and its people — not just today, but for generations to come.

We’re putting shovels in the ground, money back in people’s pockets, and delivering on our promise to build a more self-reliant and competitive Ontario.
