Ontario PCs Stand Up Against Liberal Cuts to Health Care

QUEEN’S PARK  – Today, Leader of the Official Opposition Patrick Brown attended the largest health care rally in recent memory at Queen’s Park in opposition to the government’s ongoing cuts to health care.  Ontario PC Health Critic Jeff Yurek and Whitby-Oshawa MPP Lorne Coe also attended the rally.

The rally, organized by Concerned Ontario Doctors, was held the day after Health and Long-Term Care Minister Eric Hoskins held a press conference attempting to blame the government’s ongoing mismanagement of the health care system on Ontario’s physicians.

“It is shameful that Minister Hoskins has tried to blame the Liberal Government’s ongoing waste and mismanagement in the health care system on the province’s physicians,” said Leader Patrick Brown.  “In fact, the government has tried to blame it on everyone except themselves: doctors, hospitals, nurses, and even patients.”

In his remarks Brown highlighted emails and letters he’s received from individuals throughout the province who have been impacted by the Liberal’s cuts.

“Each cut this government makes means more time that families have to wait to access much needed care,” Brown continued.  “It is appalling when you consider that the government is currently spending taxpayer dollars on radio ads promoting how great they are, yet they don’t have enough money to ensure patients receive the care they need.  What are their priorities?”

“The Ontario PC Caucus will not stop fighting until we have a government and a Health Minister that values frontline workers, and unequivocally puts patients first.”
