PC Leader Patrick Brown to Premier: “Even Premier McGuinty wouldn’t sell Hydro One” News Date
QUEEN’S PARK – Today, Leader of the Official Opposition Patrick Brown questioned Premier Wynne in the Legislature over revelations from the Hydro One Prospectus released last week. Brown focused primarily on a new clause that prevents future Governments from regaining majority control of Hydro One.
“It is one thing to make a bad decision, it’s another thing to never allow anyone to fix it,” said Leader Patrick Brown. “Last week, a clause in the Hydro One Prospectus revealed that once Hydro One is sold, the government will never again be allowed to own more than 45 percent. The people of Ontario will never control Hydro One again; will the Premier remove that clause in the updated Prospectus?”
PC Leader Patrick Brown highlighted in Question Period that even Premier Wynne’s predecessor Dalton McGuinty believed selling off Hydro One is a bad idea.
“The Premier recently said she still calls Dalton McGuinty the boss when answering his emails,” said Leader Patrick Brown. “Well the boss said, and I quote, “Selling off Hydro One is a bad idea, it’s a quick fix, and it’s a bad one.” Can the Premier explain why she’s ignoring her boss and stopping future governments, of any stripe, from fixing this mistake?”
