Putting Public Safety First

Investing $6 Million to boost the fight against crime and build safer communities

Public safety is our PC government’s top priority and we are committed to providing front-line police with the additional tools, resources, and supports they need to keep our communities safe.

That’s why we are investing more than $6 million over three years to help combat crime and provide targeted support to victims and survivors. Proceeds of crime that are forfeited during criminal prosecutions are reinvested into public safety priorities through the Proceeds of Crime Front-line Policing Grant. Today’s announcement will fund 21 projects led by 16 polices services across the province.

“Crime should not pay and that is why we are standing up against criminals who prey on Ontario communities for profit,” said Sylvia Jones, MPP for Dufferin-Caledon and Solicitor General. “We are working with law enforcement and their community partners to protect Ontarians through this investment to ramp up the fight against guns and gangs, human trafficking and sexual violence.”

This investment will help police services and community partners implement initiatives at a local level to target the most heinous crimes that puts our communities at risk. It also builds on Ontario’s province-wide strategy to fight gun and gang violence as well as a new comprehensive strategy to combat human trafficking.

Our PC government will continue to stand up against criminals who prey on Ontario communities for profit. Our message to criminals hasn’t changed: we’re coming after you.
