Queen of the Carbon Tax Nominates Another Pro-Carbon Tax Candidate

Bonnie Crombie and Vince Gasparro’s vision for Eglinton-Lawrence remains clear: higher taxes, more taxes, and new taxes.  This means taking more money out of the pockets of people in Eglinton-Lawrence and across the province.

Vince Gasparro has spent his career advocating for higher taxes and supporting the Carbon Tax.

  • Vince Gasparro backed the Liberals’ Cap-and-Trade Carbon Tax and pushed to expand it to every province in Canada.
  • He defended the Carbon Tax for years, even though he admits that it causes inflation.
  • He wrote op-eds, spoke on panels, and wrote countless tweets defending it.
  • And he still won’t denouncethe Carbon Tax.
  • That’s why Bonnie Crombie hand-picked him for her Carbon Tax Committee.

Just look at Gasparro’s own words:

  • “Enjoyed doing @RogersTVToronto discussing the impact of putting a price on #carbon and its benefits on the #cdnecon”
  • “The issue with that, and we’ve seen it in the media, is that [the Carbon Tax] had some inflationary effect on goods and services within the economy …”
  • “Great event today by @TorontoRBOT with Mark Carney discussing the need for a price on carbon #topoli #cdnpoli _reut.rs/29YfSOM.”
  • “7 out of 10 largest economies are putting a price on carbon. We need to stay competitive and this will help.”
  • “Ontario and Quebec are set on a cap-and-trade system. This system will unleash the force of our capital markets to solve the climate crisis and has support from some very powerful political and fiscal conservatives. “
  • “[Trump and Trudeau] should listen to an unlikely voice leading the charge in the United States on this matter … He has called for urgent action to curb planetary warming with a raft of measures including – to the shock of the political right – a price on carbon.”
  • “Ontario is now in a great position …. Thanks to courageous decisions”  made under the McGuinty/Wynne Governments such as the Green Energy Act and the Cap-and-Trade Carbon Tax.

Now, Gasparro is accepting the Liberal nomination from the Queen of the Carbon Tax herself.

  • As an MP, Crombie was one of the first in Canada to back one of the most extreme carbon taxes ever proposed.
  • She is one of the only provincial Liberal leaders left in Canada who won’t speak out against the federal carbon tax hike.
  • Under Crombie’s leadership, Liberal MPPs voted to deny Ontario taxpayers the chance to block future carbon taxes.
  • They voted against cutting the gas tax every single time.
  • And, as mayor, Crombie raised property taxes every single year.

Together, their reign would increase the sales tax, bring back the gas tax, support Federal Carbon Tax hikes or introduce an Ontario Carbon Tax. No matter what Crombie and her newest candidate say, their records speak for themselves. Eglinton-Lawrence deserves better.
