Statement by Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on attack in Pakistan
“I strongly condemn the recent terrorist attack that took place at Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, Pakistan. It is even more disconcerting that terrorists continue to attack centres of education, where students work to improve their lives and strive to build for a better Pakistan.
We are fortunate that Ontario is home to a vibrant community of Canadians of Pakistani heritage, who add to our province’s diversity.
My recent visit to Lahore, Pakistan reinforced to me the vitality of the people of Pakistan, and their desire for stability and prosperity. This was underlined in meetings with Chief Minister Shebaz Sharif, Provincial Minister of Women Development, members of the business community, religious leaders at the Archdiocese of Lahore and at the Badshahi Mosque.
On behalf of the Ontario PC Caucus, our thoughts are with the family members of those killed and wounded. We stand with the people of Pakistan in their time of grief.”
