Statement by Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the Rwandan Genocide

The following is a statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the Rwandan Genocide:

“The Rwandan Genocide occurred twenty-two years ago, and led to the one of the bloodiest episodes of ethnic cleansing in modern history.  Over 800,000 people were brutally murdered, and many more displaced.

 

In addition to remembering the victims, we also express our appreciation to Canadian soldiers who took part in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Rwanda, and remember that Ontario opened its doors to refugees displaced by this horrific tragedy. 

We commend those who have summoned the courage to work towards reconciliation and re-building their country.”
