Statement from Leader of the Official Opposition Patrick Brown on the National Day of Mourning

The following is a statement from Leader of the Official Opposition Patrick Brown on the National Day of Mourning:

“April 28th marks the National Day of Mourning, an opportunity to remember and honour those who lost their lives or were injured in workplace accidents. It is also a chance to acknowledge all of the mothers, fathers, grandparents, siblings, and friends who said good bye to their loved one – expecting them to come home at the end of the work day – not knowing it would be the last time they ever saw them.

Workplace accidents should not be accepted as a certainty, or as a cost of doing business. A majority of workplace deaths and injuries are preventable. We all have an obligation to minimize risks and incidents in the workplace. There is no such thing as too much precaution.

Today, I urge all Ontarians to make workplace health and safety a priority, and to discuss it with their colleagues and loved ones.  The Ontario PC Caucus is committed to working with all affected groups and parties develop the safest working conditions in the world right here in Ontario, so that people can return home from work safe and sound each day.”
