Statement from Ontario PC Energy Critic MPP Todd Smith on winter disconnections


“Winter disconnections are an unacceptable practice that the government has the ability and responsibility to stop. The Minister of Energy has the capability to issue a ministerial directive stopping this practice for good today, but instead he seems far more interested in playing political games. Instead of hiding behind legislation as an excuse for his failure to do his job, Minister Thibeault should immediately issue a directive today ending this practice for good. The Liberals will issue directives when it comes to lining the pockets of Liberal donors with expensive contracts, but not when it comes to helping families that are freezing in the cold.”
