Statement from Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford on Jewish Heritage Month

Statement from Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford on Jewish Heritage Month

“In 2012, the Ontario Legislature came together with unanimous consent to support Bill-17 designating May as Jewish Heritage Month. Today, we officially recognize its 6th Anniversary.

“Jewish Heritage Month marks a time of honour and tribute, a time to celebrate and recognize the vibrant Jewish community here in Ontario.

“With a community in Ontario of over 200,000 people, and a history dating back to the early 19th Century, the Jewish community contributes greatly to the social and economic fabric of our province.

“In Ontario, and around the world, the Jewish community has become a symbol of hope and achievement in the fight against political exclusion, ethnic, and religious discrimination. How the Jewish community has overcome adversity to achieve so much is an inspiration to us all.

“The Jewish community exhibits the values and principles that we cherish as Ontarians; embracing hard work, a focus on family, and a respect for traditions and cultural heritage. The Ontario PC Party shares these beliefs and values.

“On behalf of the Ontario PC party, I hope all Ontarians take the time to learn more about the Jewish community this month and look forward to continuing our shared journey to make Ontario a better community.”
