Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown and Ontario PC Health Critic Jeff Yurek on Vote by Ontario’s Doctors
The following is a statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown and Ontario PC Health Critic Jeff Yurek on Ontario’s doctors rejection of the Physician Services Agreement:
“Today we have witnessed the democratic response of Ontario’s doctors to the Wynne Liberals’ short-sighted cuts to patient care.
With the unilateral cuts to physician services, vilification of their profession and continual adversarial campaigns against them, Ontario’s doctors today have declared that they have had enough.
Thirteen years of Wynne Liberal scandal, waste, and mismanagement continues to take away funding for essential health care services throughout our province. Under Minister Hoskins’ management, the Liberal Government has made across-the-board cuts to frontline staff and essential services. Each cut this government makes means more time families have to wait to access much-needed care.
Now, the Wynne Liberals are set to redesign the health care system, yet it’s clear they’ve lost the trust of Ontario’s doctors. Ontario patients have no faith that they’ll receive the care they need, when they need it.
It’s time someone is held accountable.
For the sake of our province’s patients, the Premier should fire Minister Hoskins.
Our hardworking physicians deserve a government who will respect our dedicated physicians and work in the best interest of patients. Unfortunately, it’s clear the current negotiation process is irretrievably flawed. The government must put all options on the table to resolve the current impasse, and get back to the negotiation table for the sake of patients.”
