Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown Celebrating Asian Heritage Month

“Here in Ontario, and all across Canada, May 1st marks the beginning of Asian Heritage Month. Since 2002, May has been designated as a time to celebrate the historic contribution of Asian communities to our province and nation’s history. It is a time to acknowledge and celebrate the positive impact Ontarians of Asian descent continue to make on our diversity, prosperity, and growth.

“One of the most cherished and distinct elements of our province is our diversity. More than one in five Ontarians trace their roots to Asia, with a history that goes back to the 1800s. Whether from South Asia, East Asia, or Central Asia, Ontarians of Asian heritage are a vital part of the fabric of our province.

“I encourage all Ontarians to learn more about the history and experience of our Asian friends and neighbours, and join with me in celebrating Asian Heritage Month!”
