“Today, citizens in Israel, and the Jewish community throughout the diaspora celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut—marking the establishment of the State of Israel.
“In the aftermath of the WWII, and following one of the darkest periods in human history in the Holocaust, the creation of Israel was a triumph of the resiliency and perseverance.
“Today, Israel stands as a proud and stable democracy that shares our most closely held values—freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. Israel continues to contribute to the global economy and is a leader in cutting-edge research and development.
“Today is a day for all of us to learn more about Israel’s early history, and the many ways our Jewish friends and neighbours make Ontario a better place to live.”
