“Happy Vaisakhi! Vaisakhi is important for the Sikh faith, marking the founding of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh.

“Vaisakhi brings with it a number of important traditions, the most significant of which was the introduction of the Sikh articles of faith known as the ‘Five Ks.

“This celebration is also a time to perform Seva—acts of charity in service to the less fortunate.

“Dating back to the 1800s, Canadians of Sikh heritage have continued to make contributions to our culture and inspire all of us with their historical triumphs over adversity.

“Vaisakhi is a great time to learn more about our Sikh friends and neighbours, and the many ways they continue to make a positive impact on our province.

“Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!”
