Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on Naval Reserve Anniversary

The Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve (the predecessor to the Royal Canadian Navy’s Naval Reserve) was founded on January 31, 1923. Its members saw service in Canadian waters and served during the Second World War, becoming the backbone of the Canadian Navy.

Today, Naval Reservists from Ontario contribute to Canadian Armed Forces’ operations domestically and abroad, including serving onboard ships for Operation Reassurance and Operation Caribbe. They continue to have an integral role in manning the Kingston Class ships (Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels) and make valuable contributions to the military community in Ontario.
To the current and past members of HMCS Carleton (Ottawa), HMCS Cataraqui (Kingston), HMCS Griffon (Thundery Bay), HMCS Hunter (Windsor), HMCS Prevost (London), HMCS Star (Hamilton), and HMCS York (Toronto), thank you for your service!
