Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on Robbie Burns Day

“I extend warmest greetings to all who are celebrating Robbie Burns this week. 

“Robert Burns is a widely celebrated poet, whose words have timeless appeal across different cultures. 

Statues in honour of Burns can be found across our country, including in Toronto’s Allan Gardens and Windsor’s Jackson Park.

“Canadians of Scottish heritage have contributed immensely to our province, going back hundreds of years. Scottish traditions are woven into our province’s history, including in our military regiments such as the Toronto Scottish, the Essex and Kent Scottish, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, the Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders, and the Lorne Scots. 

“Across the province, in banquet halls, Legions, pubs, and dining rooms, the reading of Burns’ work, the sound of pipes and eating of haggis is an annual tradition.  Best wishes to all who are celebrating!”
