Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on Sikh Heritage Month
The following is a statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on Sikh Heritage Month:
“As Leader of the Official Opposition, I am very pleased celebrate the launch of Sikh Heritage Month in Ontario.
Ontario’s Sikh community, which values family, faith and service to others, has made immeasurable contributions to the building of our province. Whether in business, politics, medicine or culture, Canadians of Sikh faith represent an amazing success story that is worthy of appreciation.
That is why the Ontario PC Caucus was proud to unanimously support Bill 52, which recognized Sikh Heritage Month in 2013. It is also why I visited the sacred Golden Temple of Armritsar this past January, during my 9th visit to Punjab.
By recognizing and reflecting on the heritage of Ontario’s Sikh community each April we encourage all Ontarians to learn about the traditions and values of our Sikh neighbours.”
