Appointment of Jim McDonell as the Chair of the Eastern Ontario PC Caucus
The following is a statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the appointment of MPP Jim McDonell (Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry) as the new Chair of the Eastern Ontario PC Caucus:
“Throughout his five years as a member of the Ontario PC team at Queen’s Park, Jim McDonell has earned the trust and respect of our caucus. He is a hardworking and dedicated member who will strongly represent the interests of Eastern Ontario as our regional caucus chair.
Plain and simple, Jim McDonell understands the issues and concerns of Eastern Ontario. He has been a fixture in regional politics for nearly 20 years, previously serving as the Mayor of South Glengarry, the Warden of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry, and as the Chair of the Eastern Ontario Health Unit. Jim also has nearly 30 years of volunteer experience with local Eastern Ontario community associations.
Within the Legislature, Jim has been a strong and active member of our Ontario PC team. Presently serving as our caucus Critic for Government and Consumer Services, he has also done great work as a past critic for Children and Youth Services, Poverty Reduction, and Municipal Affairs and Housing. Jim’s compassion was showcased through his most recent Private Members’ Bill, which would allow Ontarians aged 16 and 17 to access services from their local Children’s Aid Society if their family is unable to provide them with needed care.
I look forward to seeing the work our Eastern Ontario Caucus can accomplish under the leadership and guidance of Jim McDonell.”
