Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the nomination of Mark DeMontis in York South-Weston

“I congratulate Mark on his nomination as the Ontario PC candidate in York South-Weston.

“Mark has a very inspiring story. A year out from possibly playing NCAA hockey, Mark was diagnosed with Leber’s Optic Neuropathy, which cost him his eyesight. Rather than hang up the skates, Mark was inspired to involve himself in blind hockey, and to work to raise awareness about the sport. At the age of 21, Mark rollerbladed across the country – from Toronto to Vancouver – to raise funds for Courage Canada, a charity DeMontis founded to support blind and low-vision hockey players.

“Mark is passionate about the York South-Weston community, and I know that he will be a phenomenal representative at Queen’s Park.

“After 14 years in power, life is harder with the Liberals. Families are working harder, paying more, and getting less. It’s time for a change. Only the Ontario PC Party will make sure hardworking families pay less and get ahead.

“In York South-Weston and across the province, the Ontario PC Party will continue to work hard for a better future. I look forward to working with Mark as we share our positive message of change for the better.”
