Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown to mark Pascha

The following is a statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown to mark Pascha:

“Easter is the holiest of Christian holidays, and marks Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death on the Cross and celebrates his resurrection.

May 1st is Pascha, according to the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Eastern Catholic Christian calendar.  This is a time to gather with family in churches and homes, as well as a time to reflect and give thanks for what we have in our lives.

It is also a time to reflect on the freedom we enjoy in Canada, with so many facing persecution around the world simply because of their faith.  In the Middle East, Christians and other minorities face genocide at the hands of Daesh.

Ontario’s diverse Eastern Christian communities will be celebrating in a wide variety of rich and traditional ways, including through processions and Church services.

On behalf of the Ontario PC Party, please accept my best wishes for a joyous and hopeful Pascha spent with family and friends.”
