Statement from Ontario PC MPP Lisa Thompson on Home Energy Efficiency Initiatives

The following is a statement from PC Environment and Cap-and-Trade Critic Lisa Thompson on the Government’s Green Investment Fund initiatives announced today:
“Climate change is a serious challenge that requires a credible plan that outlines estimated emissions reductions and the costs to Ontario taxpayers.

“We support helping Ontarians make their homes more energy efficient to both reduce greenhouse gas emissions and electricity costs.
“What we don’t support is the Liberals’ refusal to reveal how much their cap-and-trade scheme will cost Ontarians on their hydro bills.
“The Liberals have allowed electricity rates to soar by nearly 80%. Now, Kathleen Wynne’s government is committing cap-and-trade revenue to fund new projects without providing details on how much this scheme will cost hardworking Ontarians.
“Each and every taxpayer in this province has the right to know how much cap-and-trade will cost them and how it will affect our economy.”
