Statement to mark Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day
May 4th marks Holocaust Remembrance Day, also known as Yom HaShoah. On this day, people around the world stop to remember the millions of innocent Jewish men, women and children who were put to death in Nazi concentration camps.
The Shoah stands as a stark lesson in the consequences of hatred and violence. We must never forget those who died in the Shoah, and we must actively work to preserve the memory of survivors by teaching our children about this dark period in human history so that it is never repeated.
These lessons are also important to keep in mind today, as we witness terrible violence and persecution around the world.
