With premier set to testify in the Sudbury bribery trial, the Ontario PCs are focused on helping families get ahead

QUEEN’S PARK – Tomorrow, Premier Kathleen Wynne is set to testify in Sudbury as part of a political corruption court trial involving senior Liberal operatives. While Premier Wynne has been busy getting prepped by her lawyers and staff, the Ontario PCs have been busy standing up for Ontario families who are working harder, paying more and getting less under this Liberal government.

This morning in Question Period, Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown raised important issues like Ontario’s opioid crisis and Hydro One’s purchase of a foreign coal burning utility company.

“I would like to ask the premier about Sudbury, but I don’t need the Attorney General to tell me the matter is before the courts. We all know it’s before the courts, we all know Liberal ethics and integrity is before the courts,” said Brown during Question Period. “I am not going to ask about that because I want a real answer.”

Brown asked the Premier to support MPP Michael Harris’ Private Member’s Bill which would ban pill presses used by drug dealers to fuel the opioid crisis: “Will the premier help put a stop to the use of these machines by drug dealers across Ontario?” The Ontario PCs have been asking the government to take action for weeks.

As the Wynne Liberals continue to govern under clouds of scandal, the Ontario PC caucus also questioned their reckless approach to labour reforms confirmed today by the Financial Accountability Officer, as well as why the Liberals refuse to support children with autism in classrooms by permitting service dogs, and why they have chosen to close daycare spaces in rural Ontario.

“While the premier spends her time testifying tomorrow during the Sudbury bribery trial, the Ontario PCs will continue fighting for Ontario families,” concluded Brown.
