Vijay is honoured to serve and represent the people of Scarborough – Rouge Park. In his capacity as MPP, Vijay has contributed to the betterment of his riding. He has brought more funding to local Scarborough hospitals, provided funding to local groups for environmental preservation, committed funding for the building of a new community centre in the riding, invested in funding to local organizations to combat mental health and support youth in Scarborough and has been instrumental in the building of the Scarborough Subway Extension.

Vijay was first elected as the Member of Provincial Parliament for Scarborough – Rouge Park in 2018 and was appointed as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transportation in 2019. He is one of the youngest and first Tamil Canadian to be elected as a Member of the Provincial Parliament in Ontario. Vijay holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from Ontario Tech University (formerly UOIT).
